   ASHOK HAZRA

ABOUT   MY  WORK

Time ticks on, thoughts race ahead; imagination runs wild, moods and themes change, new ideas take shape - one series follows another - Fantasy; Ma; Reminiscence; Clown; Krishna; Devi and now the Flute Player.

They are all pieces of my life's experiences sewn together

in a string to form a garland of memories. The lush green

Meadows, shady banana groves, the fragrance of wild

grass combined with the rich smell of rain soaked mother

earth still tingles me in my dreams. Their pleasure is

strong enough to transfer me through space, time and

distance and make me re-live my childhood days in

Midnapore - West Bengal. Amidst all this beauty, the

sweet melody of the flute beckons me to my carefree

days spent in the countryside.

The mystic sound of the flute is like the dancing smoke rising from an incense stick which hypnotises the soul .I have gushed out this "spiritual feeling" on the blank canvas and tried to capture my inner-self.

My paintings mirror these exact thoughts and memories and give me the peace and tranquillity which I yearn for.
