 Abbass Batliwala

 

 

The art of Abbass not only comprises the satire but also high humour.  It combines well formulated images and literary puns with sharp wit. His art renews language, refreshes it but also retains basic values……and his art does both, with grace and candour.

 

Abbass Batliwala, born 1958 Rajasthan, did his masters (drawing and painting), from Udaipur university.

 

He has exhibited his works in a number of solo shows and also participated in several group shows. Some of the important exhibitions where his work has been shown include National Academy Exhibition, vii Trienalle – India. 6th Asian art Biennale BangladeshIndia month Rotterdam. The harmony show 1997-98, 2002 – Mumbai.” The Millenium Masks” Dhoominal Art Centre – New Delhi.

 

He has participated in several workshops including the Jammu and Kashmir academy of art culture & languages 1992. North central zone cultural centre – Lucknow, 1994. “The golden Triangle through Artists Eyes” – welcome group art camp at Delhi, Agra, Jaipur 1996. Punjab art heritage – Jalandhar 1996. Jawahar kala Kendra- Jaipur. The harmony camp at city palace in Udaipur 2002.

 

Abbass is recipient of vii international Triennial award.

His works can be seen in the collections of National gallery of modern art, national academy. Jawahar kala Kendra, Jaipur. Academy of Art culture & languages j & k, north central zone cultural centre. West zone cultural central. Appejay College of fine arts – jalandhar. Hero cycles, Oberoi hotels, Mumbai.
