Born in 2nd October 1951
Ajit Dubey, a graduate in painting and postgraduate in print-making from M.S. University, Baroda, currently heads the Department of Graphics, College of Fine Arts, Chitrakala Parishat, Bangalore. He has held several solo exhibitions in Bangalore (1992/1999/2001) and Seoul (1995/1997/2000), besides participating in International Exhibition of Prints, New Delhi (1984-85), Indian Print-Makers Exhibition (1985), First Print Biennale, Bharat Bhavan (1989), Seventh Triennale India (1991), Fourth Egyptian International Print Triennale, Cairo and Alexandria (2002) and Eleventh Triennale India (2005).
The artist's roots go back to rural Uttar Pradesh, symbolized by idols, legends and mythology.“When I paint or print, our mythology haunts me. It's sacred and vigorous and in spite of infusion of other cultures and religions, the flow is mythical, something that is deeply rooted in my mind and soul,” he told Metrolife.
